Two primary school pupils have been named as the winners of a Platinum Jubilee art competition - with a further 10 chosen as runners up.
Children were asked to paint a picture about what The Queen's Platinum Jubilee means to them, and more than 200 entries were received from schools throughout Leicester and Leicestershire.
The key stage one category was won by Mason Harpin from Kirby Muxloe Primary school.
The judges felt Mason created a fantastic painting using the Union flag colours of red, white and blue.
They loved the phrase ‘We love the Queen’ and were delighted by the amount of detail of the soldier and carriage.
Niya Patel, from Krishna Avanti Primary School in Leicester, won the key stage two category.
Niya’s beautiful painting was praised by the judges because it contained everything associated with the Queen, including the phrase ‘God Save The Queen’ and the colours red, white, and blue.
The Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur visited each primary school to present certificates and prizes to the winners, and the 10 runners-up will receive certificates from deputy lieutenants.

I was impressed and truly blown away by all of the incredible entries that we received – the children did a remarkable job with their paintings.
It was difficult to choose two winners among so many great entries, but we think Mason and Niya illustrated the theme of ‘what the Platinum Jubilee means to you’ beautifully.”

Avanti Primary School teacher Vaishali Keshvala said: “The art competition was a great way for children to get involved in Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
“There is great pleasure to be derived from art and design and, through deeper understanding; we can gain access to cultural richness and diversity.
"The appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enriches all our lives.”
