Welfare for Ukrainian families

Information on places you can seek support for particular needs for yourself or your family. Your Support worker can help you to understand or access these services if you require.

Barnados provides a free Ukrainian Support helpline. That can provide therapy and psychological support as well as advice and practical support on a range of issues.

Family support and safety

  • School places - Apply for a school place for your child. Please declare that you are making an application for or on behalf of a Ukrainian refugee. If you would like speak to us about school places, please call 0116 305 6684.
  • Leicestershire Family Help Service - support for parents and children that cannot be provided by GPs or schools alone.
  • FreeVa - helpline and support for anyone affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence Helpline: 0808 802 0028.
  • Living Without Abuse provide community-based support to men, women and children affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence in Leicester city, Leicestershire and Rutland.
  • Women’s Aid Leicestershire Limited provide support to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and provide vital assistance to all victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
  • Turning Point works with anyone who is affected by drugs or alcohol and wants support to make change.
  • Cyber Aware - Learn how to stay safe and secure online.
