A new video highlighting just some of the 400 services provided by Leicestershire County Council has been launched.
The video can be viewed on the county council’s social media, including Facebook, X, Instagram, and is also available on YouTube.
Voters will head to the polls on Thursday 1 May to elect their local county councillor to represent them. To encourage people to vote the short video has been created to showcase the breadth of services residents receive from the county council.
Services include street lights, adult social care, public rights of way, highways and road maintenance, waste and recycling centres and family hubs.
Trading standards, registering marriages and births and deaths, SEND, country parks and open spaces, local buses and gritting are also part of the county council.
Elected county councillors will be involved in making decisions about how these council services are delivered. They will also help to shape the look of local councils for generations to come.
The video comes as 293 candidates standing across Leicestershire ahead of the county council elections have been named. Candidates in each electoral division can be viewed by visiting the election page of the website.
“We offer such a wide range of services for residents, and elected councillors will help to shape these services.
“That’s why we’re urging everyone to take some time to find out who is running in their area and to use their vote in the upcoming election.”
