Improvement and widening work to the A511 in North West Leicestershire continues for the next month.

The next phase of works, to improve capacity and introduce new traffic lights, will start on 31 May between the Flying Horse roundabout and junction 22 of the M1.

This section of the A511 will be closed overnight in both directions between 8pm and 6am from 31 May to 3 June and 6-10 June to allow for resurfacing by Leicestershire County Council and Galiford Try.

The works, which will be completed in July 2016, have been planned to cater for increased levels of traffic expected from a growing economy and new housing developments to be built in Coalville.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted and will take drivers via Copt Oak in both directions, along the B591 and Whitwick Road.

Additional closures of the motorway slip roads will be required after this, along with closure of the roundabout to allow for resurfacing to be completed.

The project is funded partly by a £2.54 million contribution provided through the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Deal, and is being managed by Leicestershire County Council.
