More than 100 people contact council about key roles

Fantastic response to recruitment campaign

Head of Service Mrs Jones

More than 100 people across Leicestershire have responded to a recruitment drive for roles in adult social care.

The county council is encouraging residents to help make a difference in their communities and support vulnerable people during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The council’s Inspired to Care team has also received nearly 50 applications for long-term and temporary positions in a variety of roles.

These include supporting people discharged from hospital back into the community, helping to free up beds for the NHS.

As well as recruiting for roles within the council, Inspired to Care, will be helping home care providers recruit staff so they are free to carry on providing vital services to the vulnerable and those in isolation.

This is a challenging situation and we are doing everything we can to keep critical services going, particularly those supporting vulnerable people.

Home care support has never been so important and the roles on offer will give Leicestershire residents the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities, support the most vulnerable to stay safe and well at home, and earn money while carrying out a rewarding role.

There are long-term and temporary positions available for anyone who is interested in supporting. The council is also keen to recruit people in the following positions to support those in need:

  • Previous home care professionals
  • People who are out of work or have reduced hours
  • Self-employed people
  • Retail/ hospitality/ leisure professionals
  • Students/ graduates

No experience is necessary. The council will be carrying out free DBS checks and providing basic training to ensure applicants can begin work as soon as possible to help residents as quickly as possible.
