Helping youngsters be a positive driving force

Pre-driver day courses for 16-17 year olds

Pre driver days

Leicestershire County Council’s safe and sustainable travel team are offering pre-driver day courses for 16-17 year olds wanting to learn to drive.

The courses which are held at Mallory Park in Kirkby Mallory, are specifically designed for young people who have not yet got behind the wheel.
They aim to raise awareness of challenges faced by inexperienced drivers, as well as equipping them to make safe choices as drivers and passengers.

The pre-driver days are very popular and we know that many young people are eager to learn to drive, so I would urge people to book on the course as soon as possible.

The events also include an introduction to driving, issues relating to speeding, the Highway Code and a practical driving session using the track and paddock area, all accompanied by a qualified driving instructor in a dual control car.

Each course costs £50 and places sell out quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Dates available for 2017 are:

• Monday 10 April

• Thursday 20 April

• Thursday 1 June

• Thursday 20 July

• Monday 14 August

• Monday 16 October
