Festive opening hours at Recycling & Household Waste sites

Sites will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, in addition to normal closure days

General views of waste site

Residents planning to visit a recycling and household waste site over Christmas and New Year are being urged to check opening hours before heading out.

The 13 waste sites, operated by Leicestershire County Council, will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, in addition to their normal closure days.

The days following Boxing Day and into the New Year can be extremely busy at all sites, and potential site visitors are urged to bear this in mind before setting out.

We’re approaching the busiest time of the year at our waste sites. While we are doing everything we possibly can to make sure that opening hours aren’t affected outside the usual seasonal closures, we’d encourage visitors to check our website and social media for updates and be patient if they do visit a site.

Residents are also being encouraged to check with their district or borough council, as recycling and refuse collection days may change over the festive season.
