People will have a chance to have their say on the future shape of libraries, museums and adult learning, to save more than £1.8 million.
Leicestershire County Council’s ruling cabinet is set to launch consultation on the future shape of its communities and wellbeing service. It currently spends £5.7 million per year.
Subject to approval, the consultation will start in the New Year and run for three months with the findings reported back to cabinet at a later date.
We know the services our communities and wellbeing team provide are valuable to our communities, so we’re looking at how these services will be delivered in the future. With continued pressure on our finances, we need to look at providing services a different way. The reality is we will be focusing more on supporting volunteer groups and less on providing directly funded services.

The report to cabinet outlines the key priorities for the service’s strategy, which include closer partnership working, building skills, supporting communities to access services online and increasing access to local services through the use of new technology.
The report will be discussed by cabinet when it meets at 2pm on Tuesday, January 12. You can watch it live or watch a recording from the following day onwards.
