People who attend Leicestershire’s final in-person fostering information event of the year will be treated to a choir performance from children in care.

Beacon Voices Choir will be showcasing their vocal skills at the event which will take place at County Hall, Glenfield, on Wednesday 9 October.

With over 730 children and young people currently in care across the county, more people are encouraged to consider fostering, no matter their professional background or skills.

The session aims to offer vital information needed to make an informed choice about fostering for Leicestershire County Council. Topics covered will include the different types of fostering on offer, the application process, and the payments available.

“It is an unfortunate fact that the number of children and young people under Leicestershire’s care is rising year-on-year. There is an urgent need for more residents to come forward and offer a safe and loving home to these vulnerable young people.

“The Beacon Voices performance is an exciting addition to the event. The choir’s performances are brilliant, and it’s fantastic that members can develop their confidence and teamwork skills whilst doing something they love.”

The information event will take place from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Guests are asked to arrive at the main reception at County Hall (Glenfield, LE3 8RA) by 6:15pm to ensure they can be signed in early, and the event to begin promptly.

People are welcome to turn up and register on the night, or pre-event registration can be done through completing the 'Join a fostering event' form.

Anyone wanting to find out more about fostering with Leicestershire County Council can email the team at fostering@leics.gov.uk, or call them on 0116 305 0505.
