
‘Baby Fortnight’ is back in April, with a series of free activity sessions and workshops taking place across Leicestershire for 0–2-year-olds. Parents and carers can book onto sessions now, which include messy play, language support workshops and sensory fun. Last year more than 200 children joined in with Baby Fortnight, organised as part of Leicestershire County Council’s Family Hub ‘Start for Life’ initiative. This year there will also be events held in Rutland. Running from 28th April until 9th May, the sessions are aimed at giving parents and carers the support they need to aid their child’s development through simple and engaging activities. Jane Moore, director of children and families at Leicestershire County Council, said “These activities are not only fun, but inspiring and educational too. “With the success we had last year, we hope that more families will get involved and take advantage of these brilliant free sessions.” Sessions planned will include:

Virtual sessions will also be available for parents, carers and those working with children across LLR and their families from birth to 2 years, these will be delivered by a variety of agencies such as Leicestershire County Council, HomeStart Horizons, Leicestershire Partnership Trust and Public Health.
