Leicestershire County Council’s annual summit for the community and voluntary sector is to return next month and residents are being encouraged to attend.
Last year's Communities Summit focused on health and wellbeing, with guest speakers including Active Together. This year’s gathering will explore work going on across Leicestershire to combat climate change and reach our net zero targets.
Taking place at County Hall on 8 April, it will feature a range of presentations from award-winning environmental organisations, businesses and rural groups, exploring how different sectors are using green initiatives.
There will also be a marketplace with stallholders across the sector, giving an opportunity for attendees to find out more about work going on around the county.
The summit follows a year of regular Communities Network events which have been hosted by the council, covering a wide range of themes from tree-planting to the cost of living.
Pam Posnett, lead member for communities, said: “The Communities Summit is an excellent opportunity for residents, organisations and businesses to come together and learn about the excellent work going on across Leicestershire.
“This year’s focus on climate change and net zero will provide huge insight into how a range of sectors are tackling one of the biggest issues facing us to today and deploying green initiatives effectively.”
Residents are encouraged to register at the Leicestershire Communities website, where they can also find information about booking a market stall for organisations or businesses. Any questions regarding the summit can also be directed to communitiesteam@leics.gov.uk.
