Three Leicestershire County Council-run heritage sites with new accolades under their belts are welcoming visitors in 2025.

Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, 1620s House and Garden and Beaumanor Hall all recently celebrated success at the awards at the Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards.

With the ten-year anniversary of the reinterment of Richard III taking place this year, visitors can find out more about the defeated king at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.

The attraction was Highly Commended for the Bosworth Medieval Festival in the Best Event/Festival with Paid Entry. It was also Commended in the Small Visitor Attraction category. 

Long-time supporter of the site, Philippa Langley MBE, was also honoured at the event with an Outstanding Contribution to Tourism award.

The popular 1620s House and Garden in Donington le Heath won Best Team award in the category ‘Proud of our People’ which recognises the commitment and outstanding work from the people in the tourism and hospitality sector. As winners, the 1620s House and Garden will now go forward to the national Visit England Awards for Excellence.

Beaumanor Hall’s Gift Fair event was Commended in the Best Event/Festival – Paid Entry category. The fair, which takes place across three weekends in November and December showcases over 70 local makers and crafters on a daily basis and saw nearly 7,500 visitors pass through.

A spring fair at Beaumanor will take place over the 10 and 11 May with the summer fair in August.

Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities, said: “It is wonderful to see all the hard work from the staff and volunteers at these popular locations recognised.

“It shows that our offering is up there with the very best attractions, venues, hospitality sites in Leicestershire. The day to day operations of all our council-run sites is no mean feat and I am very proud to see all of the hard work honoured.”
