Two 'virtual' information events are being held in January for people who want to find out more about fostering or adoption.

‘Find out about fostering’ will take place on Wednesday, 13 January at 6:30pm, with ‘find out about adoption’ following a week later, on Wednesday, 20 January at 6:30pm.

The interactive events will be held via Microsoft Teams, led by the council’s fostering and adoption team. They will include details of the rewarding nature of both routes, as well as the application processes and an opportunity to hear from current foster carers and adopters.

We know that people often think about starting their fostering or adoption journeys at this time of year and I hope that the new virtual events will help people to get the information they need from the comfort and safety of their homes.

“Our events are relaxed and informal and a great opportunity to find out more. Even if you’re not ready to foster or adopt now, the team are here to provide the information for you to take things at your own pace.

The fostering information event will cover the various different ways to foster, the application process and details of the package of training, support and allowances available.

‘Find out about adoption’ will provide more detail about adoption, who can adopt and the process, as well as pre- and post-adoption support available from the council.

There’s no need to register for Microsoft Teams to join the events, a link will be sent via email enabling participants to join from a phone, tablet or computer.
