Awards celebrate best in adult social care

Opportunity to acknowledge work being done to support county and city residents

Award winner Lesley Mansfield care professional of the year

Shining lights in Leicestershire and Leicester’s adult social care sector will again be recognised at an awards event later in the year.

Tickets are now available for the Care Professional of the Year awards, held annually to applaud staff who excel at caring for county and city residents. This year’s ceremony will be held on Friday, 4 October at Winstanley House, Hinckley Road, Leicester (from 6.30pm).

Tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite via the Inspired to Care website at www.inspiredtocare.co.uk/

A total of 17 awards will be presented on the night, including best newcomer, learning disability support and trainer. The night will conclude with the announcement of an overall care professional of the year.

Finalists are nominated by their colleagues, families, or service users, and winners announced on the night.

The event is organised by Inspired to Care, who work with Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council to help promote adult social care careers and help to improve retention rates in the sector.

Councillor Christine Radford, county council cabinet member for adults and communities, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of this year’s finalists. Everyone in adult social care works so hard to support people across the county and it’s fantastic to get the chance for us to honour those who have been nominated.”

Cllr Sarah Russell, deputy city mayor and member for social care, health and community safety, said: "The Care Professional of the Year awards are a brilliant night, showing that when you put passion and dedication into your work - whether that’s transforming the lives of people who draw on support, or making your care staff feel valued - you get so much out of it. We all benefit long-term from this amazing work.”

Last year’s winner of the Care Professional of the Year award was Lesley Mansfield (pictured, above), who celebrated 30 years of working at the Old School House Residential Care Home in Thringstone.

The awards night will be sponsored by local organisations and businesses who support the work of the sector: Vita Health Group, Co-Op Funeral Care, Enable Inclusive Support, Care Choices, Midlands Care, OnePlan Care Software, Syncurio, Wood Street Optical, Fire Doors Complete Ltd, LLEP Growth Hub, and Recruit Match.
