About the Learning Disabilities Partnership Board

The Leicestershire Learning Disabilities Partnership Board supports people with learning disabilities and their carers.

The Partnership Board is chaired by self-advocates and is supported by the Assistant Director for Operational Commissioning - Santokh Dulai.

The Board also has other members from different organisations in Leicestershire, such as Adult Learning Leicestershire, Leicestershire Partnership Trusts, and Learning Disability nurses, that support people with learning disabilities to make things safer and easier for them to access.

The Partnership Board:

  • meets every 3 months
  • makes a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers
  • follows an action plan which sets out priorities for this year
  • links in / supports the locality groups around Leicestershire
  • informs other groups about any changes, new ideas, and decisions made during the discussions
  • holds annual conferences

Partnership Board meetings

The Board holds a meeting for people with learning disabilities, their carers, and those supporting them across Leicestershire every 3 months.

About the Steering group

The Steering group:

  • ensures we provide high quality services that make a difference and are delivered on time
  • supports and gives guidance to the Partnership Board and ensures it is doing a good job
  • reviews requests for presentations
  • receives regular updates from the sub-groups and locality groups on their performance
  • writes reports to share with others about what we are doing and how they can help us improve
  • monitors how finances are being used by checking what has been spent and what difference this has made to people’s lives
  • meets on the Thursday afternoon of the week following the Board meeting for two hours to discuss outcomes and future plans

  • Private providers - EMCARE

Board members

Representatives on the Partnership Board:

  • come from different groups and organisations
  • know different things about services for people with learning disabilities
  • value people principles and make sure they work well in Leicestershire
  • share their knowledge and experience with the Board
  • attend meetings regularly or invite someone else to replace them when they can't attend
  • come prepared for the meetings by reading the papers and talking about them with the Board
  • share with the Board what your service does
  • share with their service what the Board does

If you, or someone you know, would like to become a member of the Partnership Board, please contact us and state how your organisation can help to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.

Agendas, minutes, and other relevant information will be emailed out to all members of the Partnership Board. By becoming a member of the Board, we will ask if you give permission for your email address to be shared. If you wouldn't like the us to share your email address when emailing agendas, minutes, and other relevant information, please let us know.
