Our “social car” service offers vulnerable or elderly residents in Syston and surrounding villages personal, door-to-door transport for journeys to doctors, hospital appointments, shopping trips, visits to family, hairdressers etc. This service is for people who would otherwise not be able to get out of their houses to meet appointments or to socialise. Our volunteer drivers use their own cars for an agreed mileage chare and the centre charges a small administration fee per journey.
Minibus trips and group transport
We also have our own small fleet of specially adapted minibuses. We provide transport door-to-door to day centres, social outings, community lunches, shopping trips and other group activities in the community.
Wheelchair and other mobility aids hire
We have a large stock of wheelchairs, bath boards, commodes, crutches and three wheel walker all available for hire from the Centre.
Handyman services
We can signpost you to a DBS checked handyman who can provide both handyman and garden services.
Monthly Community lunches
On the third Monday of each month we run a community lunch based at Beedles Lake Golf Club, East Goscote. The lunch is open to anybody and we can provide a limited amount of transport to and from your home on a first come first served basis. Please see our website or contact us for more details.
Support for local self-help groups
We actively support such local groups as Syston Games Club,Vista, Stroke Association, Young at Heart and Syston Carers.
