There’s still time to have your say on the Police and Crime Panel

A consultation giving people a chance to have their say about the Police and Crime Panel for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is still open until 17 February 2025.

The panel is responsible for supporting and challenging the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Rupert Matthews in his role to hold the Chief Constable Rob Nixon accountable for the performance of the police force. The panel also works towards a target of reducing crime and ensuring the PCC delivers an effective and efficient police force.

The consultation gives people a chance to comment on or ask any questions about the panel’s work, suggest ways to engage with the public or do things differently.

The panel is made up of representatives from each of the local councils served by Leicestershire police, alongside two independent panel members.

Acting leader of Leicestershire County Council and chair of the Police and Crime Panel, Councillor Deborah Taylor, said: “It’s a privilege to chair the police and crime panel which regularly plays a key role in scrutinising the work of the police and crime commissioner.

“Whilst the panel includes a wide range of political affiliations and independent members, we really want to hear from you too.

“With just a few weeks to go, please don’t miss out on this opportunity to get involved and help guide your PCC’s strategy for policing in the region.”

Find out more and share your thoughts in the ‘ask us anything’ box via the engagement webpage, before Friday 17 February.
