Partnership with road contractors keeps county on the right path

100 metres of Groby Pool pathway has been revamped

A popular Leicestershire pathway has been given a revamp through county council collaboration with a major contractor.

Building materials provider Heidelberg Materials, formally known as Hanson UK,  is one of the companies contracted by the authority to carry out major carriageway resurfacing.

Now through Heidelberg Materials’ annual contribution of £10,000 from a ‘social value promise’ project, a 100-metre section of pathway at Groby Pool has been resurfaced, ensuring that the route is accessible for all ages and abilities.

While we have budget restraints, we’re working hard to maintain and, where we can, improve our roads as well as enhancing community spaces for the benefit of all. This generous contribution from Heidelberg Materials is very welcome.

Mr O’Shea also said he is using part of his Members’ Highway Fund – money from the council’s own coffers -  to support highway and environmental improvement to link up to this work at Groby Pool, which will improve the local environment.

Heidelberg Materials and MQP are proud to work on the Leicestershire term contract. It was good to be part of this improvement scheme and make a positive contribution to the community in this area.
