An upcoming event at County Hall aims to provide more information about fostering with Leicestershire County Council.
Over 730 children and young people are currently living in care across the county, and a fresh appeal has been made for anyone interested in fostering to find out more at an upcoming information event.
The information session will take place on Tuesday, 16 July at County Hall in Glenfield, and offers those interested the opportunity to meet the fostering team.
The session promises to be informal and low pressure, offering attendees key information about payments and allowances, the ongoing support and training package, the application process, and more.
All attendees can also speak with current foster carers present at the event. Michelle, who fosters school-aged children, and Joan, who fosters teenagers and recently transferred to the county council from an independent agency, will be on-hand to answer questions about the realities of fostering.
The information session will take place from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Guests are asked to arrive at the main reception at County Hall (Glenfield, LE3 8RA) by 6:15pm to ensure a prompt start to the event.
“As the number of young people entering care continues to rise, we are constantly searching for new foster carers to make a real difference to their lives and futures.
“Attending one of our ‘Find Out About Fostering’ events can be a brilliant introduction to fostering, and I would encourage anybody interested to book their place as soon as possible.”
Person:Councillor Deborah Taylor, cabinet member for children and families
People are welcome to turn up to the event on the evening and register in person, or they can book their place on the website, or find out more on the Fostering page.
