Families across Leicestershire are being urged to visit their local library this week as part of a week-long celebration.
National Libraries Week, which runs until Saturday, 14 October, showcases what the library services have to offer, and gives people the chance to celebrate the creative, innovative and diverse activities that take place across the county.
Libraries Week is a fantastic opportunity for people to visit their local library. Most people know that they can borrow books from the library, however, this week is also a chance to discover something new and find out about the wealth of events, activities and services on offer in Leicestershire libraries.
Person:Councillor Richard Blunt, cabinet member for communities and wellbeing
A programme of events and activities throughout the week will highlight the diverse activities and services available across the county's libraries, including free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers; health and wellbeing support, family events and learning activities.
Visitors have the chance to take part in a family coding event designed for people to develop new skills with technology, pop in for some storytelling, or relax and make new friends at an afternoon tea.
