Last chance to have say on new road near Melton

People still have time to share their views on a proposed distributor road

Residents, businesses and motorists have until Sunday (15 October) to have their say on a Leicestershire County Council scheme to tackle road congestion.

People from across the county still have time to share their views on a recommended route for a distributor road, which would create a 4.3mile single carriageway built to the east of Melton Mowbray’s town centre.

The county council and Melton Borough Council-led project, which could cost up to £100 million, aims to tackle traffic congestion and improve the quality of life of residents and businesses.

Melton’s congestion is constraining the town’s growth and we need to unlock this so that the town can achieve its potential.

“I hope people take the time to share their thoughts on these exciting proposals.”

Councillor Leigh Higgins, deputy leader of Melton Borough Council, said: “The consultation is your chance to have your say and find out more about this much needed and eagerly anticipated road.

"This is our best opportunity for the future prosperity of our businesses, our residents and our town - so get involved”

People who would like to respond can fill in the consultation questionnaire online by visiting www.leicestershire.gov.uk/mmdr or send in a completed questionnaire to Melton Mowbray distributor road consultation, Room 300B, Leicestershire County Council, Have Your Say, FREEPOST NAT18685, Leicester LE3 8XR.
