Following a successful flooding drop-in event in Harborough earlier this autumn, key agencies in Leicestershire are once again teaming up to help residents and businesses get flood ready.
The drop-in event is being held at the county council’s headquarters in Glenfield on Thursday, 7 November from 2pm to 6pm.
More than 50 people attended the Harborough event and officials from Leicestershire County Council, the Environment Agency, district and borough councils, water companies and other key organisations will again be on hand to offer advice on preparing your home or business premises in case of flooding.
After the wettest September on record in Leicestershire, leading to widespread disruption across the county, getting prepared for flooding has never been more urgent.
Councillor Ozzy O’Shea, county council cabinet member for flooding, said: “After so much wet weather over the past few months, helping residents and businesses prepare for flooding is a huge priority for all agencies and we have a pivotal role as the local lead.
“Flooding has become a normal occurrence for us and we need to work together to put measures in place to greatly reduce impact in the event of a flood. Protecting ourselves from flooding is everyone’s responsibility.
“Local councils and agencies work closely together to provide a united flooding support service for Leicestershire – I would encourage anyone who has concerns about flooding to come along to the drop-in event and pick up valuable advice.”
