Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Forum

A chance for residents to have their say

Walking cycling and wheeling forum

On Monday 3 March Leicestershire County Council’s Choose How You Move team will host the Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Forum at County Hall, Glenfield.

People across the county will have the chance to attend to hear about the latest travel plans for the region.

Attendees can get the latest updates first hand on local developments and engage with the council on topics like public rights of way. Those who take part will also have the chance to put forward questions and comments.

Previous forums have seen over 70 attendees, with presentation highlights including the Local Transport Plan 4, School Streets scheme, and the cycling and walking strategy.

The forum also featured Active Travel Revolution Market Harborough’s work with local schools as well as the announcement that Leicestershire County Council improved its active travel capability rating (an assessment of how effective authorities are at planning, designing and delivering active travel schemes).

Ozzy O’Shea, Leicestershire County Council lead member for highways and transport, said: “The travel forum’s continued success is showing that people are interested in finding out directly how we are committed to transforming transport in Leicestershire to include everyone.

“As part of the forum, we are highlighting how travel options can improve our wellbeing and enhance our county.

“While we rely on funding for travel initiatives, engaging with the community is crucial to making positive changes.”
