Businesses urged to rise to sustainable challenge

Breakfast event will provide advice and guidance

Choose How You Move

Businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire are being given the opportunity to learn how to create a healthier and more sustainable work culture.

Choose How You Move (CHYM), a joint county and city council project, is hosting a ‘one stop shop’ at the National Space Centre on Tuesday, 4th December (8am - 11am).

Sustainable travel specialists from CHYM and the county council's public health team will guide businesses through their free services during breakfast, offering advice and guidance on how sustainable travel schemes can help businesses grow.

Free training sessions, a taster session on state-of-the art electric bikes, and a walk will illustrate first-hand all the benefits of exercise, fresh air, and leaving the car at home.

To sign up for a free place at the business breakfast, email choosehowyoumove@leics.gov.uk

This event is a great opportunity for Leicestershire businesses as we guide them on their journey to a more sustainable and active work life.

“Employees at businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire are already enjoying sustainable travel programmes including car shares, bike-to-work schemes, cycle training, and personalised travel planning, and that has had benefits for employees' physical and mental wellbeing.

"We are proud to run this event to help businesses of Leicestershire implement their own schemes and to offer funding and grants to make these positive changes possible

Local businesses, who have already implemented their own sustainable travel plans, will be on hand to explain how they successfully changed their workplace culture which has, in turn, helped increase staff recruitment and retention.

Studies have also shown that employees who travel actively to work are happier, healthier and more productive.
