- improve your job prospects and life chances
- help your children with schoolwork
- feel more confident managing your household budgets
We deliver the national programme in Leicestershire, which has received £3 million in government funding, to provide hundreds of free courses and support over the next three years.
Who is eligible for a free course?
We offer free flexible courses to adults who need to improve their numeracy skills.
To be eligible, you should:
- be over the age of 19
- not already have a GCSE at grade C/4 (or equivalent) in maths
or
- you lost the maths skills you need for everyday life or work
Where do the courses take place?
The courses will be available across Leicestershire:
- in person or online,
- at work or at home, and
- either on a part-time or intensive basis
Anyone who fits the criteria is eligible for help from Multiply, with a particular focus on supporting hard-to-reach learners and those who may not traditionally engage with adult learning courses.
Who provides the training?
Multiply is led by our Adult Learning Service, working with partners including:
- colleges
- businesses
- district councils
- voluntary organisations
- community groups
Information for businesses
Employers who could benefit from boosting their workforce’s skills will be able to work with the council and training providers to deliver functional skills qualifications or programmes tailored to the needs of their workforce.
For more information, please visit our Employment and work-based learning page.
Become a National Numeracy Champion
The council and National Numeracy are holding two types of online training sessions which are delivered in two two-hour sessions:
- Numeracy Champions – Supporting Adults: for colleagues (including staff in secondary schools), learners, customers, or adults in the community
- Numeracy Champions – Supporting Families: for teachers, school staff, parents, or carers
The training programme is CPD accredited, and Numeracy Champions will also have access to resources, networking opportunities, and ongoing support.
Numeracy Champions don’t teach maths – their role is to help to improve people’s confidence with numbers by talking positively to those who may feel anxious about maths, support people to have a more positive approach to numbers and signpost them to ways of improving their numeracy skills.
