Training and support
Training
At Leicestershire County Council, we understand that the role of a social worker can be challenging, so we ensure that our learning, development and support offer is there to support you in your role.
We have a comprehensive and supportive induction programme, with a well-established Assessed and Support Year in Employment programme, for all our newly qualified social workers.
You’ll also have designated Continuous Professional Development time, including a structured time of learning and development and an unstructured day to support you in maintaining your social work registration.
Social workers wanting to progress into more specialist roles, such as Practice Educators and Approved Mental Health Professionals and BIA’s can do so with our comprehensive career pathway and other routes into leadership and management.
Support
As a social worker at Leicestershire, you’ll have access to a wealth of useful resources including some of the latest research and innovation in social work practice. In addition to this, your Social Work England fees will be reimbursed.
Our social workers are given the technology to enable them to do their jobs flexibly, as well as supportive weekly group supervision meetings with your team and regular professional supervision. We also have COVID secure office space for when you need to be based at your desk.
We know how important it is to support our mental health and wellbeing and that’s why at Leicestershire we have a comprehensive support package, which includes:
- flexible working
- working from home equipment allowance
- access to our employee counselling service
