Learning in our schools

Support in schools for pupils with SEND is designed to be flexible and tailored to each individual child. This can include:

  • Extra support in classes
  • Advice and support from a local special school
  • A tailored curriculum, which is personalised to each child
  • Sensory and immersive environments
  • Outdoor learning
  • Timetables which are adjusted to suit travel times and settling in periods
  • Emotional coaching
  • Skills for independence
  • Accessible space – such as wider corridors and classrooms

Our schools offer a wide-ranging curriculum, depending on the needs of each pupil, which can include:

  • Maths, English and Science
  • Cooking and skills for independence
  • Art and music
  • Sports and physical activities

In Leicestershire, all schools work together, along with the SEND team at the council and special schools, to access to best learning and teaching practice.

This means that:

  • As parents, you can be assured of excellent support in a school that's close to home
  • Your child can build strong friendships and be part of the community
  • You can access support and services in your community
