Would you like to be part of a professional team, caring for and supporting our children and young people to reach their full potential?

We are looking for people with the necessary skills and experience to support and care for a young person who is moving on from residential care. Most of these young people who are 10 years and plus, have on-going care needs, but will be better supported with a home-based carer to support them on their journey to independence.

As a full-time Pathway Carer with us, we will support you to care for a young person in your home.

Our Pathway Carers receive generous financial allowances, bespoke training and 24 hour support.

If you have a spare bedroom and believe you have the right experience for this role, call on 0116 305 05 05 or fill in the form below.

Your experience

You will be expected to support the young person to access services such as Mental well being and health appointments, education or training as well as supporting them to achieve life skills and independence skills to support them into adulthood.

Pathways foster carers will have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from their own life experiences, their working life or from previous fostering experience. They will also have the warmth and strength of character to build enduring and valuable relationships with young people which can be maintained even in stressful situations.

Positive role models and the understanding that ‘someone believes in you’ can make a huge impact on how a young person can start to perceive themselves

These young people may have experienced several major disruptions in their lives and will be in need of support to help them achieve their potential. They will need their carer to be a good role model, have empathy, and be able to empower them on their transition to adulthood.  Do you have qualifications or relevant demonstrable experience of caring for young people aged between 10 years to 18 years?

Requirements

  • This role is a full-time position
  • You must have a spare bedroom
  • You can have no children at home under the age of 10 due to the nature of the role
  • You will be able to provide a safe and caring environment that will enable up to two of our young people to achieve measurable outcomes across their safety, education and self-esteem which you would meet through the following commitments:
    • A commitment to help the young people keep themselves safe from harm or abuse and to teach them to identify when their safety is threatened and how to seek help.
    • To remain focused to the objective of the role, including preparing young people for adulthood - for example encouraging independent care and providing support in gaining employment.
