Hundreds of Leicestershire residents are now enrolled on adult learning courses after taking advantage of the service’s early bird discount.

GoLearn! Leicestershire County Council’s Adult Learning Service offers part-time day, evening, and weekend courses for adults aged 19+ to learn new skills or take on new hobbies.

Some of the courses new for this year include Digital Skills for Beginners, First Aid and Food Safety qualifications, Silk Painting, Lino Printing, Connecting with Nature (A Better Mental Health Workshop) and many more.

With 30 per cent off, more than 1,500 people have already enrolled since the 2024-2025 programme launched in July, and numbers continue to rise. Popular courses including Drawing and Painting, Introduction to Smartphones and Tablets, Yoga, Pottery, Fused Glass, Better Mental Health and language courses are filling up fast.

Alongside the variety of courses for leisure and learning, GoLearn also offers free Skills for Life courses, which are designed to help learners improve their maths and English alongside valuable digital skills.

The 30 per cent discount remains available for anyone who books on a course from now until Monday 30 September – and it can be used alongside the 70 per cent reduced cost discount available for anyone on a low income and/or eligible certain benefits.

More than 700 courses run at dedicated adult learning centres and suites across Leicestershire, in community venues and online.

The GoLearn courses provide a great opportunity for adults to pick up a new skill or improve an existing one.

GoLearn supports residents across Leicestershire to achieve their goals, whether that’s finding employment, improving or maintaining wellbeing, or supporting your child’s learning. I hope people take advantage of our early bird discounts to enjoy their course of interest.
