Ceremonies at a registration office

We have 6 different registration offices available, all decorated to a high standard.

You can take a virtual tour of our rooms or you’re welcome to visit any them prior to making a booking, please get in touch to make an appointment. 

After deciding which room you’d like to use for your ceremony you can call us up to 2 years in advance to make a provisional booking.

Once you’ve given notice, you will be given formal confirmation of your booking. This gives you all the details on your ceremony, including copies of the vows you will say to each other.

Opens new windowAs soon as you’ve made the provisional arrangements for your ceremony, you should contact the County Superintendent Registrar for the Leicestershire registration district.

Without the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar, or a Civil Partnership Registrar, there can be no marriage or registration.

We strongly advise you make an advance booking with the County Superintendent Registrar to confirm that Registrars are able to attend on your proposed date.

You’ll have to pay a fee for their attendance before the ceremony.

Arrangements for a ceremony to take place on the approved premises depend on:

  • The attendance of the Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar, or Civil Partnership Registrar, for the district in which the premises are situated.
  • The issue of Certificates for Marriage by the Superintendent Registrar(s) to whom the notice of marriage was given (marriages only).

Once you’ve given notice, you’ll be sent formal confirmation of your booking. This includes details of the day, the opportunity to personalise your ceremony and some suggestions for planning. You’ll be invited to make an appointment with the registration office local to the venue you’ve chosen at least a month before the date of your ceremony.

At the appointment you will be able to discuss the content of your ceremony including:

  • additional music
  • personal vows
  • readings
  • any other personal enhancements you wish to include

You will also be asked to pay for the attendance of the registration staff at your wedding.

Only a civil, non-religious ceremony can be permitted by the Superintendent Registrar. The content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar when you call to make your final arrangements.

Any rights of copyright for music, readings etc. permitted at the ceremony are a matter for the couple and the holder of the approval.
