The council is currently Conservative controlled.

Following the decision of the County Councillor for Whitwick to join the Conservative Group, the makeup of the Council from 14 February 2017 is:

  • Conservative:  31 seats
  • Labour:  9 seats 
  • Liberal Democrats: 13 seats
  • United Kingdom Independence Party:  2 seats
