Workshops to make technology simple

Free drop-in sessions at libraries to help bust technology myths

Person on phone

Free drop-in sessions to help people work out the web and make the most of digital technology are being held in libraries from next week.

Leicestershire County Council is trialling four sessions for anyone confused by computing who wants to learn more, or savvy surfers looking for advice.

The events will be supported by volunteer Superfast Leicestershire digital champions who are keen to share their technology know-how and support people to get online.

Four workshops will be held across the county:

  • Melton Library, Wednesday, 17 February, 10.30am – 12.30pm
  • Wigston Library, Thursday, 18 February, 10.30am – 12.30pm
  • Loughborough Library, Saturday, 20 February, 10.30am – 12.30pm
  • Coalville Library, Saturday, 27 February, 10.30am – 12.30pm

Technology has become an integral part of life for many, but going digital can be a challenge for some so we’re trialling informal sessions to support people looking to learn more.

These sessions are suitable for anyone with questions about using the internet, making the most of digital devices, keeping yourself and information safe online or people looking to save money using comparison websites.

Adult learning and library staff will also be on hand to explain more about the digital services and opportunities provided by the council, including basic computing courses and access to e-books and digital downloads.
