Self-access trial starts at Syston library

Library hours extended through trial scheme

Self-access technology will enable people to use Syston library outside of usual opening hours from this month (March).

During the three-month trial, library users can take advantage of 24 additional opening hours per week, through the self-access scheme.

We’re trialling self-access technology which effectively extends the hours when people can enter Syston library. This will make it more convenient for people who work during the day or on shifts, plus parents who want to take their children to the library on the way to school.”

People who have registered to take part can use their library card to access the building, in order to borrow, return and renew items or use the public computers, wifi and printing and copying facilities.

The library closed briefly in January to allow the technology to be installed and tested, before the trial starts.

To register for smart access, please call into the library during normal opening hours, or look out for special events from 5.15pm-6pm and 6.15pm-7pm on 20 March, 5 April or 13 April. You can book online at www.leicestershire.gov.uk/syston-library or call Syston Library on 0116 305 3500.
