Primary school registration deadline

The deadline for Primary school applications is 15 January, 2016

School children

There are now only three weeks to go until the national closing date for applications for primary and infant school places.

Parents and carers of children turning four before 31 August 2016 are reminded that they must apply for a primary or infant school place by 15 January 2016. They are allowed to apply for up to three preferences.

Late applications will have the lowest priority, so parents and carers are encouraged to apply on time.

Increased birth rates have led to next year having one of the highest entry groups for some time, so there is even more pressure to meet the national closing date.

The national closing date for places is just around the corner and if parents or carers haven’t completed their applications I would urge them to do so as quickly as possible.”

The best way to apply is online. Online applications will be acknowledged with an automatic email from the Schools Admissions Service. If you don’t receive an acknowledgement email it means your application has not been submitted and that you must re-submit your form.

The national offer date is 16 April but, because this falls on a Saturday, all parents and carers will be notified from Monday 18 April. If you have applied online you will be able to find out which school has offered from midnight.

Parents applying for children to move on from primary to infant school will also need to submit their registration by the same date.

To find out more, you are advised to read Leicestershire’s Your Guide to Primary Education , to contact the Admissions Service - email admissions@leics.gov.uk or call 0116 305 6684. Apply online.
