An information event is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) for anyone interested in finding out about fostering unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) and young people.

The drop-in session will take place at The City Retreat in Church Gate, Leicester, from 11am -2pm.

Leicestershire County Council’s fostering recruitment team will be on hand to talk about fostering, supporting UASCs and young people, and answering any questions.

The event follows a four week digital campaign launched by the council to recruit UASC carers, which resulted in more than 100 enquiries from people wanting to help.

“Young people are arriving alone, scared and without friends and family here in Leicestershire on a regular basis. Having local fostering families who have an understanding of their values and beliefs will be a great comfort.

“We had a fantastic response to our campaign and The City Retreat kindly offered to host this event for anyone who would like to find out more.

“This is a great opportunity to meet our friendly team and find out about fostering.”

To find out more about fostering call the recruitment team on 0116 305 0505, email fostering@leics.gov.uk or come along to one of our fostering open evenings
