Volunteers who provide valuable support to North West Leicestershire tots are getting an early Christmas present thanking them for their help.
Staff at the district's children’s centres have donated gifts to show their gratitude to the 21 people who give up their time to run activities for under-fives.
The Leicestershire County Council-run centres provide health and learning support to families for pre-school children - particularly for babies, younger children and parents who need additional help and assistance.
Without the help of our volunteers, our work would be much harder. It is so important that we recognise their work and remember that they are providing us with their spare time for free. Person:Ivan Ould, cabinet member for children and families
We want to make sure that each individual is shown the thanks they deserve and hope a special Christmas surprise is a good start.
The volunteers also gain valuable knowledge and skills through their work at the centres, as well as increased confidence and self-esteem. Many go on to further education and paid employment.
