The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner is to be the voice of the people and hold the police to account.

Election

Police and Crime Commissioner elections postponed from May 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, took place on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Rupert Matthews (Conservative) was elected as the Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner.

The next Police and Crime Commissioner election is on 2 May 2024.

Leicester City Council is responsible for administering the election.
